Pedro Paulo Junior
Trumpeter, composer, arranger, and singer, Pedro Paulo Junior began his musical journey in 1999 when he helped found the Itiberê Orquestra Família, led by Itiberê Zwarg. He recorded two albums with IOF - "Pedra do Espia" (2001) and "Calendário do Som" (2005). The latter was released in various Brazilian capitals, Montevideo, Uruguay, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pedro performs in the nightlife of Rio de Janeiro, playing in gafieiras with the band Samba Plugado and with the salsa group Rio Latim Jazz. In 2012, he released a CD with the wind ensemble Inventos, alongside former colleagues from the Itiberê Orquestra Família. With liner notes written by Egberto Gismonti, Pedro Paulo composed and arranged two pieces for the CD - "Encontro das águas" and "Dr Cornelius". He is also a member of Fanfarrada, a wind and percussion group that roams the streets and favelas of Rio. They have performed in Cariri, Brazil, and Bogotá, Colombia. In 2018, he released the album "Fanfarrada - Tradições Vanguardistas", featuring three of his compositions - "Coração Black", "Gargalhada do Gaiato", and "Yo no era eu". Still in 2018, he joined the big band of composer and arranger Gaia Wilmer in the project Egberto 70, a tribute to the musician's 70th birthday. In this project, he played alongside Egberto himself, Yamandú Costa, Jaques Morelenbaum, André Mehmari, Mauro Senise, Gabriel Grossi, and Ricardo Herz. Currently, he is producing an original work of 10 songs in collaboration with poet and composer Arthus Fochi, titled "Massambará".
